Why Olive Pomace
Olive pomace (virgin pomace) is a by-product of the olive oil extraction process and is made up of the skins, pulp residues and peanut fragments. The raw olive pomace oil is extracted from the virgin pomace, through the process of "extraction", in fact, of the lipid part. Pomace oil is mainly used, after refining, for human consumption or for the preparation of cosmetic products. However, especially in recent years, favoring a vision inspired by the European principle of the circular economy and the bioeconomy, more and more often raw olive pomace oil is destined for energy use, as a vegetable fuel. On the other hand, the stone is an excellent fuel, easy to use and with a high calorific value, to be used as an alternative to wood pellets for burners and stoves.
Who we are - Associations
Eurolivepomace has been founded in Spain, 10th May 2017 by Spain, Italy and Greece. It represents the 90% of total extractors.
It is formed by the following Associations:
ANEO
The Association was founded in 1977, after the demise of the vertical union. For several years, it was part of FIODE (Federation of Olive Oil Industries of Spain) along with ANRA and ADEINSO. It is currently headquartered in Seville and is a member of FIAB.
In 2012, ANEO became a vertical association, incorporating olive pomace oil refineries and olive pomace oil extractors among its members. The common thread among its members is olive pomace oil production.
The Association represents the majority of the olive-pomace sector, both in terms of production and the large number of member companies: extractors, refineries, and energy producers through cogeneration and olive biomass.
It is very important to highlight the great environmental work of the olive-pomace sector, which, through its efforts, allows for the valorization of all the byproducts generated during olive oil production, obtaining high-quality products, such as olive-pomace oil and biomass: olive pits, pomace, etc.
The products marketed by the members are:
– Crude Olive Pomace Oil
– Refined Olive Pomace Oil
– Olive Pomace Oil
– Biomass: olive pits, pomace, biomass, pulp, etc.
S.P.E.L.
The Association of Fertilizer Producers and Traders (S.P.E.L.) was founded in 1995 and represents companies operating in the fertilizer and plant protection products sector.
SPEL members operate in both the Greek and international markets, offering a wide range of products containing one or more nutrients necessary for plant growth. SPEL members develop, produce, market and distribute high-quality fertilizers (plant nutrition products) that comply with the specifications of the current national and European legislation.
SPEL cooperates with all stakeholders involved in the distribution and marketing chain of nutritional products - fertilizers, with public and private entities, with decision-making centers, with academic and research institutions, with corresponding organizations in Greece, the European Union and other countries.
ASSITOL
Assitol was founded in 1972 and is formed by 8 different working groups (with more than 100 Member Companies) and, among the groups represented by Assitol, there is the “Olive Oil Group”, made up of companies bottling and refining olive oils (with around 30 Members).
Assitol is member of many National and International Federations such as Federalimentare, Confindustria and Fedolive.
